To be honest, it would be weird if Danny Meyer hadn't toured the prospective restaurant spaces in the upcoming Brooklyn Bridge Park, given he has restaurants in both Central and Madison Square Parks, considered bidding on the Tavern on the Green space, and holds a slew of operations at CitiField. But yes, he was there last week to tour the Pier 1 facilities along with the owners of Red Hook's destination restaurant The Good Fork, mini Asian chain Rice, Dumbo's Superfine, and at least 30 others (and one blogger plant). Correction: Reps for Meyer say he was not on the tour. The Post's sources simply say he is known to be interested in the space.
The city has put out requests for proposals for two mobile food carts for Pier 1 (one for the 2,500 square foot elevated outdoor plaza that allows for beer and wine), and for Pier 6, a 2,000 square foot sit down restaurant space and a 170 square foot restaurant. The Pier 1 spaces that were toured last week by Meyer and others are expected to open this summer.
