After Ryan Skeen's dramatic exit from his last restaurant Allen & Delancey and his twitter declaration that he wanted "the fuck out of NYC", many figured he would actually leave New York. Not so! Grub Street reports that Skeen is on the verge of opening a new restaurant up in Harlem called 5 & Diamond, and since he's a partner in the project, he shouldn't face the same problems (or in his words, he won't be "constrained by any other owners’ concepts") that he did at A&D and Irving Mill.
When the restaurant opens on 112th and Frederick Douglas Blvd. on Thursday it will offer a menu that includes a burger, lamb cassoulet, shrimp and grits hush puppies, homemade pasta, and more. It's a limited run now, but "by the time regular hours kick in, there will be breakfast pastry and sandwiches, two tasting menus, and a limited Sunday 'family night' menu with dishes for sharing."
