Franklin Cafe, Bee Desserts, Bomoloni and more Open

1) West Village: Bee Desserts, a new cafe and bakery on Greenwich Ave., opened a few weeks ago. They serve lunch, dinner, bar snacks, and a menu of crepes in addition to small and large honey cakes. Status: Certified Open; 94 Greenwich Ave., 212-366-6110.

2) Tribeca: A new restaurant on West Broadway between White and Franklin called Franklin Cafe Tavola Calda is said to have opened last night. Not much intel is out there about this but further details are appreciated. Status: Signs point to open; 222 West Broadway, 212-625-8833.

3) East Village: EV Grieve reports that Why Curry? on St. Marks between 1st and A is now called Lychee, a "home style Thai kitchen." Status: Certified Open; 126 Saint Marks Pl.

4) Upper West Side: The West Side Independent, along with a number of tipsters, reports that the long awaited pastry and doughnut shop Bomboloni is opening tomorrow or Saturday. It's owned by the man behind Lansky's. Status: Signs point to opening this weekend; 187 Columbus Ave.

5) Prospect Lefferts Gardens: The people behind the restaurant Joy in Prospect Heights have opened up a new place in PLG called Gandhi. It has the same menu as Joy but with cheaper prices. Status: Signs point to open; 2032 Bedford Ave., 718-282-7016
