It's time to say goodbye to another old timer. The Times reported yesterday that Cavalier Restaurant in Jackson Heights, Queens will close this Sunday due to a crippling rent hike. The restaurant, which has gathered a group of die hard regulars over the years and has been visited by Tony Bennet and Louis Armstrong, has a new landlord, and all of the other stores and businesses in the Cavalier's building have also recently closed or are on the verge of shutter. One 58 year veteran of the restaurant lamented, "These old-timers who have come here for companionship all these years, where are they going to go?" See all of the closing events here.
