Diner's Journal gets some info on the menu planned for the new Veselka restaurant, which, as we know, began construction on the Bowery this week. Says owner Tom Birchard: “We’re going to feature unusual vodkas from Eastern Europe, the food that goes with it, some caviars...It’s a chance to build my dream — plus I got a good deal on the rent.” Birchard also notes that one of the perks of the new restaurant will be knowing that he has an "insurance policy" if construction on the Second Ave subway line effects business at the original location.
