Fire Strikes Ryan Maguire's Ale House

New, 6 comments

Fire struck at Ryan Maguire's Ale House in the Financial District last night, seriously damaging an after-work drinking and dining institution. A tipster happened upon the scene this morning, and notes, "hard to tell the extent of the damage, but I wouldn't expect to see any bangers and mash from here for some time." Don't forget about the free wings during happy hour, either. The fire was under control by 7AM. Let's all hope that the damage was minimal and that no one was hurt.
UPDATE: NY1 reports that the fire started in Ryan Maguire's cellar at 2:30 AM. According to FDNY Deputy Chief James Daly, "A cellar fire is very hazardous to our members -- very low ceilings, confined pace, high heat, a lot of storage down there. They had stored barrels of beer and things like that. So there's a lot of collapse potential."
