Vendors Fight Back

New, 1 comment

peanutvendor.jpgYesterday we learned the sad story of Mohammed Shirajul Islam, a roasted peanut vendor operating near city hall who had his vending permit confiscated when he left his cart to use the bathroom. Today, Islam will rally with fellow vendors and members of the Street Vendor Project outside of the Department of Health to demand a repeal or at least an amendment of the recently issued DOH policy that makes unattended carts subject to on-the-spot seizure of the vendor’s permit. For more reading on the subject, check out the Post's profile on the vendor, which ran this morning. [Eaterwire, NYP]
