A day after Shake Shack withdrew its liquor license application to deal with community concerns in Nolita, Community Board 4 approved the burger chain's proposal for the ground floor of the InterContinental Hotel in Times Square. The new Shack, which will seat 60 and be open from 10:30 AM until midnight, received unanimous approval, and there were no community complaints. Of course, getting approved for a hotel operation in a highly commercial, already tramped up neighborhood is no massive coup. But every little victory counts.
Meanwhile, the debate rages on over the 47 Prince Street location.
