1) East Village: Grub Street and Thrillist report that Ravi DeRossi's proper restaurant El Cobre on East 6th Street and Avenue A opens tonight with a rum-centric cocktail list and large plate dishes like Ropa Vieja and mojito-marinated chicken. 2) Financial District: Julian Medina has opened a taqueria version of his popular Toloache in the space that formerly housed a 'Swich sandwich shop. It's fast food-style, with tacos, burritos, tortas and sopas. Even better, they've sourced Mexican Coca Cola, which uses real cane sugar and has a cult following. 3) Midtown East: FloFab reports that Devon Gilroy is no longer in his father's employ at the East Side Social Club, and is now manning the stoves at Park Avenue Tavern, an "American Gastropub" with self-service beer taps. Status: Opened last month; 99 Park Ave, 212-867-4484
4) Brooklyn Heights: Brownstoner posts opening signage of the Tio Pio outpost operating on the corner of Court and State Sts. Expect a large menu of Latin dishes (oxtail, pernil) and prices hovering around $10. Status: Certified Open; 117 Court St, (718) 875-3097
5) East Village: EV Grieve brings word that the Fab Cafe - the coffee shop from Fourth Arts Block - is now serving piping hot coffee from Mud in the old Cuppa Cuppa space on East 4th St between 1st and 2nd Aves. 6) Midtown East: Midtown Lunch files on the new mega-branch of Sunrise Mart on 41st St. In addition to the market, there's a full-service restaurant serving items like yakisoba and donburi. Status: Certified Open; 12 East 41st St, 646-380-9280
