The recent, shocking shutter of LES Taiwanese joint Xiao Ye seemed like a huge setback for Eddie Huang. But the chef/restaurateur dealt with the closure in stride, saying that he would return to the kitchen of his first restaurant BaoHaus, full time, while moving forward with other projects.
Now Huang tells us he's currently developing a TV show with High Noon Entertainment, the production powerhouse behind Cake Boss. The project won’t be a reality show, per se, but more of a personality-driven food culture and entertainment program, in the vein of No Reservations or Bizarre Foods. Things are still early in the process, but he says they plan to start shooting in and around New York sometime in the next month or so.
The chef tells us that he’s stoked for the new project, as it will also allow him to stay in the kitchen at BaoHaus while exploring the greater world of food and restaurant culture, a passion he's always made apparent on his blog.
