Ludlow Shocker II: Is Pink Pony Also Planning To Close?

New, 9 comments

Weep for poor Ludlow Street, which is apparently losing not just Max Fish but also the Pink Pony, which is now also rumored to be closing in the near future. Paper Magazine is reporting that the LES staple is also a victim of increasing rents and taxes, but unlike its neighbor, has not announced any plans to reopen. Eater placed a call to the restaurant but the staffer who answered the phone had heard nothing of the news (potentially a good sign?). This is not a good month for restaurants with pink animal mascots. Consider this developing.
UPDATE: Grub Street talks to Pink Pony owner Lucien Bahaj, who confirms that he will be closing the restaurant since he sublets his space from the also closing Max Fish and the landlord has tripled the rent for the space. Bahaj says he will relocate to another space in the neighborhood.
