Curbed uncovers some new renderings of the controversial restaurant replacing the old pavilion on the northern end of Union Square Park. It's very, um, Grecian. Check out those curtains!
The restaurant—whose operator is as yet unknown to the public, and perhaps not even chosen yet—is being designed by BNO Design, the firm led by celebrity interior decorator Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz. They say, of the design, "Not only will it compliment the local neighborhood, it will also create an elegant dining experience in the middle of the park."
Locals protested against the restaurant, claiming a private operator shouldn't commandeer and profit off of what was once a public space in a city-run park. It was last projected to open in "Fall 2010." Click through to Curbed for a look at the inside.
