The Elephant Shutters After 17 Years on East 1st Street

EV Grieve notices signage at 17 year-old East Village Thai restaurant The Elephant that indicates the restaurant is closing for good. Not only that: it's selling off all of its goods. The restaurant has been plagued by city shutdowns—both for DOH infractions and for serving a minor—and it was just last April that the owner complained that the city's punishments were going to drive her out of business. Perhaps they did.

Better stop by now if you want to say goodbye or pick up some discounted kitchenware.
