Grub Street brings word that Elvis Arevelo will be opening Vintage West tonight in the former Luke and Leroy space. While the name and prohibition era style aren't much and it's low probability of cracking the Door Report, it is refreshing to see a new space open that doesn't claim to be ushering in a new era in nightlife or promising to bring back the good old days of New York. Vintage West is simply a (cabaret licensed) bar with a DJ, cocktail list, and waitresses dressed in corsets. We can let that one gimmick slide. [GS]
