China 1, the Avenue B restaurant with a lower level club, is apparently a goner. A new awning and signage reveals that the space will reopen as Affaire, a small plates spot, on Friday. Meanwhile, the long empty Carne Vale space nearby—which would have opened long as a restaurant were it not for the community board—has reopened as a laundromat. [EVG]
