Extra Place: Where CBGB Meets Max's Kansas City

What's the best way to keep CBGB's memory alive? How about by partnering with the Max's Kansas City Company and launching a super private event space in the club's former basement that, according to the press release is "never open to the public". Just like CBGB's! Oh wait, that's not like CBGB's at all. Extra Place is a 4,000 sq ft space that is accessed via a door on, wait for it, Extra Place and recently hosted multiple CMJ shows and other events like a Julian Lennon exhibit opening. Although the rep's claim that Extra Place "revives the renegade spirit of the Bowery" is rather dubious, the room looks like a great place to see a very intimate show. The whole project is probably the ultimate reminder of how different things are down on the New Bowery.
