1) Greenwich Village: The Village Voice checks out the newest location of Jackson Diner, the venerable Indian place that got its start in Jackson Heights, Queens. They've set up shop along University Place, in the space formerly occupied by Café Spice. Status: Certified open; 72 University Pl.
2) East Village: EV Grieve reports that Chocolate Library is now open and their IKEA shelves are filled with plenty of chocolate, not books. Status: Certified open; 111 St. Marks Pl.
3) Lower East Side: Bowery Boogie sneaks a peek at Saro Bistro, a restaurant from CIA grad Eran Elhalal with the intention of cooking the food of long lost empires, mostly from Eastern Europe. Status: Opens tomorrow; 102 Norfolk St., 212-505-7276.
4) East Village: Grub Street has the lowdown on Goat Town, an American bistro from Joel Hough and Nicholas Morgenstern, both colleagues formerly at Cookshop. EV Grieve gets a look inside. Status: Opens later this week, perhaps as soon as Wednesday; 511 E. 5th St., 212-687-3641.
