The Humm Dog, Eleven Madison Park chef Daniel Humm's special hot dog created for PDT to stand alongside the Chang Dog and the Dufresne dog, is returning to the East Village bar for the month of December. For those who need a refresher, the Humm Dog (rhymes with boomdog) is a a bacon-wrapped, deep-fried dog topped with celery relish, melted Gruyere cheese, and black truffle mayo for $6. Last year, the hot dog was taken off the menu after the powers that be decided that the ingredients were too expensive. It lasted two months. It resurfaced for a time on Eleven Madison Park's bar menu in a pricier and smaller form in May but disappeared in the recent renovations.
This year, they're smartly only putting it on the roster for a month-long run. It's like the McRib for wealthy New York gourmands.
