One month after restaurant critic Sarah DeGregorio decamped for the cushy offices of Food Network Magazine, the Village Voice has found a replacement for her and a co-critic for the paper's veteran restaurant guru Robert Sietsema. They've chosen food writer and very, very recent Voice contributor Lauren Shockey to take the reins.
Shockey is a culinary school grad who has worked in kitchens around the world—and wrote a book about the experience out next year—and has written for The Atlantic, The Moment blog, The Times, The Wall Street Journal, and a slew of other publications. She also grew up in New York and has a masters in Food Studies from NYU. So presumably, she knows how to write, knows how to cook, and knows how to eat. Follow her on twitter here, and look out for her first review, currently scheduled to appear in the December 15 issue of the paper.
