One Year Later, First Signs of Progress at Doughnut Plant

Back before pie was the next so called "it" dessert, it was doughnuts. Or maybe it still is? Or maybe trendwatching desserts is a futile endeavor?

Regardless, Choice Brooklyn is opening high-end doughnut joint called Dough, Top Chef Just Desserts alum Zac Young is opening a doughnut shop with his bosses at Flex Mussels. And today, a reader notices that signage has finally gone up on the second New York City branch of the cultishly loved LES spot Doughnut Plant in the Chelsea Hotel. The signage arises almost a year after the project was originally announced. Owner Mark Israel recently explained that the delays were out of his hands, as the hotel is up for sale and the building is a landmark.
