Actually, maybe those smell machine guys in the old Superdive space are onto something. At a fancypants finale dinner for the Alchemy of Taste and Smell event this weekend, David Chang, George Mendes, Daniel Patterson, and Wylie Dufresne all plated, served and cleared dishes that emphasized compelling scents. The show stopper: the team from Roberta's brought out a machine that shot vanilla smoke filled bubbles into the dining room at Astor Center to complement their sea urchin dish. [EaterWire]
