Some new juicy details on Dans Le Noir?, the dark dining restaurant now hoping to open on 56 Franklin Street in Tribeca, via the Tribeca Citizen. At last night's Community Board 1 meeting, where the restaurant was unanimously passed for a liquor license, the following was revealed: diners must be 15 years of age or older, they will serve a $65 prix fixe, diners must check anything with a light (phones) in a locker beforehand, diners enter the room via a conga line, each person can only drink half a bottle of wine, and the kicker, "If there’s a problem, the staff knows where the panic buttons are..." If there's one thing that should make you feel good about dining at a restaurant, it's the easy accessibility of panic buttons.
The owners admit that they imagine 40 percent of their business will come from tourists. The rest will come from people who want a suitable alternative to Ninja.
