The Broadsheet Daily reports that Donald Sacks, a restaurant that has been open in Battery Park City since 1983 and has been located within the World Financial Center since 1988 had its lease terminated and closed on Friday. The owner of the restaurant is not happy: "...with so much empty commercial space available in the World Financial Center, in Battery Park City, and all over Lower Manhattan, it seems crazy to me to force a successful business to shut down, and throw all these people out of work."
But there may already be a new operator for the space. Workers at the Ed's Lobster Bar kiosk, which just ceased operations for the season, predicted that they would move in by next season. The Ed's food cart serves a more streamlined menu than the original restaurant over in Soho, and has only been operating for one season.
