The owners of Spitzer's Corner and Bruschetteria on the Lower East Side are trying to open an oyster bar on 87 Stanton Street in the old Slipper Room space (Slipper Room is supposedly reopening on the 2nd floor). They held a meet and greet last night to try to win over the neighbors, but none showed. Why they say they'll be good for the neighborhood? They'll create jobs, pay taxes, provided much needed raw seafood and, well, they're not a Subway. [BB]
