Michelin isn't the only big red guide to release its rankings today. In what we imagine is no small coincidence, Zagat also released their New York Guide today, revealing their new dining trends and new standout restaurants. The big winner this year is Le Bernardin which received a perfect score of 29, the first restaurant to do so since Bouley in 1996. Gramercy Tavern was voted Most Popular once again, Maialino was named best newcomer, and Per Se earned accolades for best service.
There was quite a showing from Brooklyn this year with Mile End named the best deli, Fette Sau in the top spot for best barbecue, and Egg singled out for best Southern food. Borough Park’s Pacificana won for best Chinese, and Tanoreen apparently has the best Middle Eastern food. The guide this year also called attention to the city's best food trucks, with big ups going to Wafels & Dinges, Street Sweets, and Van Leeuwen Ice Cream.
