A Roundup of the Day's Taco News: October 6, 2010

New, 1 comment

Today has been a banner day for taco news in New York City, so here's a quick recap: via the tip line we learn that the Pera Truck, a Turkish taco operation from the team behind Pera Mediterranean Brasserie in Midtown, made its debut today at a press conference for the parking lot outside of Tavern on the Green, where it will regularly set up shop. On the Italian front, the Feast has more info on the spaghetti and meatballs tacos designed by Andrew Carmellini that are being offered at the Mercadito restaurants throughout the month. (The Times also reported today that this kind of taco is particularly popular amongst parents and children who watch the show iCarly). This is of course in addition to the recent news about Asian-fusion taco outfits Korilla and Cobra Kai.

And to cap things off, today the Post ran a piece about how trendy tacos are right now, and in an interview with the hip band Chairlift over at Eater National, the group said that their favorite food on tour was — you guessed it — tacos.
