At Saturday's Pig Island fest, Papacitos chef/owner (and former Chopped contestant) Cody Utzman previewed some kimchi and carnitas tacos from his upcoming Greenpoint restaurant, Cobra Kai. No word yet on when the Korean-Mexican fusion spot will make its debut, or where in Greenpoint exactly, but the new place already has a website that notes it's opening "SOON!!" Along with the Korilla Truck this will be the second big Korean taco opening of the fall. Will either of them reach the level of cultish adoration of LA's Kogi Truck? Only time will tell. But, at the very least, hopefully both restaurants will have more luck with the tricky fusion hat trick than Seoul Station, a similar concept that opened last year and closed a cruel seven months later.
