Checking in on the Summer's Leftover Vague Shutters

This August, a handful of restaurants closed for "vacation," and promised to reopen sometime in September after a nice, long rest and a new paint job. Well, it doesn't always turn out that way. Anthos, for one, closed and will reopen as a steakhouse. It's not looking good at all for Allegretti, as tipsters rumor the chef Alain Allegretti is one hundred percent out at the restaurant, and his PR say he's traveling and thus cannot comment on the matter. Veritas is shooting to reopen with a new staff and a new outlook at the end of October, after a two month hiatus.

Cru has long been closed with staff and tipsters saying it's for good. However, a recent walkby revealed new construction taking place in the space and the same Cru GM overseeing the work. Perhaps it's not so done for. Meanwhile, The Village Tart, the Nolita bakery and sandwich shop over on Kenmare Street has been on vacation for over a month. It was first meant to open after Labor Day, then on September 14. A walkby over the weekend revealed the above seen of a space in limbo. A comeback isn't sounding so likely.
