A Bourbon At...Whiskey Town

2010_10_Whiskeytown.jpgA Bourbon At?is sponsored by our friends at Basil Hayden’s Bourbon. Basil Hayden’s is handcrafted, light-bodied and aged longer with twice as much rye to produce an incredibly approachable, sophisticated and luxurious bourbon. It’s spicy. Unexpected. And full of potential. Just like your plans tonight.

At first glance, Whiskey Town looks like all of the other fratty East Village dive bars. Upon second glance, it still looks that way. And if there was any confusion, Whiskey Town serves all their canned beverages in coozies and their six-packs in legitimate coolers.

To its credit, Whiskey Town has a solid list of Bourbon and other brown spirits. After all, the place is called Whiskey Town. They even offer complimentary “pickle backs” with all Bourbon and Whiskey orders. The briny concoction does a nice job of cutting the richness and smokiness of the bourbon. Sadly, no “Listerene Backs” are offered.

From the great selection of classic board games to the black and white photo booth,
there are plenty of other distractions at Whiskey Town to keep you entertained. The resident DJ, who looks like he has played a few bar mitzvahs in his day, throws down danceable 80’s hits and classic rock from the elevated DJ booth. Hate all you want, but it’s hard to deny that Whiskey Town is a good time.
