Seamus Mullen Eyeing New Resto for Old Baluchi's Space

New, 2 comments

The Community Board 2 SLA Licensing committee agenda is out for November, and it has a doozy on it. According to the docket, Seamus Mullen, the chef that left the Boqueria duo earlier this year, is applying for a license at 359 6th Avenue. That address belongs to Mexican standby La Palapa, who say that actually the agenda should say 361 6th Ave., the former home of a Baluchi's Indian restaurant. The La Palapa folks say it's going to open as a burger bar, and while it won't be ready anytime soon, they hear the goal is for a November debut. So, exciting! It's good to see Mullen land somewhere.

Meanwhile, Emil Warda is back on the agenda for the old Beatrice Inn space, Avenue B's Max is looking to expand to 306 Mott Street, and the Best Chocolate Cake in The World, a bakery that already has an open location in Nolita and one coming soon to Dumbo, is applying for 55 Spring Street. Matthew Maddy of No. 7 and No 7 Sub is back on the agenda for 168 Elizabeth Street after getting a drubbing for the same space back in July.
