Yesterday, John McDonald told Eater that he was offering $1,000 for the return a stolen dog painting that has sat in MercBar for the last 17 years. And apparently, Merc isn't the only victim of restaurant industry thievery. Today, the people behind boozy Australian Avenue C hangout The Sunburnt Cow report that their light up cow Bessie went missing sometime between 2 - 4 AM on Sunday, October 17. They sent us this description and promise to give a $500 reward for her safe return: "Female, Bovine, bright sunburnt skin with black spots. Tattooed with the signatures of her loyal fans. Lights up when you turn her on. 5 years of age, 24 inches tall, 1 lbs., medium build white hair, black eyes, plastic skin." The cuteness sounds a bit like a publicity stunt, but maybe not. If you know anything about the heist, email the owner here.
