Sirio Maccioni Considers Moving Le Cirque to Smaller Space

New, 6 comments

Restaurateur Sirio Maccioni tells the Post that if he finds the right space, he may relocate his 36 year-old restaurant Le Cirque once again. He says the current iteration of the restaurant at One Beacon Court in the Bloomberg building is doing "all right, not great" and that it's too big. Back in July, son Mauro Maccioni told New York that the restaurant was having a "tough time" but they were doing fine due to a favorable deal with the landlord and a new injection of funds. Sirio would be open to relocating to a restaurant space with something like 60 - 80 seats.

Earlier this year, it was also reported that the Maccioni family was scouting a space for a new concept, "an Italian seafood restaurant tentatively titled Osteria del Mare."
Update: Mauro Maccioni writes in to say that the Sirio quote in the Post was wrong. They are looking for a new space for a Sirio concept, not a new location of Le Cirque. "We have made significant strides and business has been solid." Cuozzo responds that his story is 100 percent accurate.
