A day after an electrical fire struck his Village restaurant Joseph Leonard, owner Gabe Stulman reaches out to explain his immediate plans to friends and supporters. In a note this morning, he relays the good news: the dining room remains the same and the walls, artwork, bar, tables, and so forth were not affected by the fire. That said, the rest of the damage has yet to be assessed, and it's still unknown how long the repairs will take and how much they will cost. His main priority is to make sure that the insurance coverage of "key workers" extends to all of his staff so they will make it through the break.
In the meantime, Stulman will extend the hours and menus of his two week-old bar and grocery Jeffrey's to make use of the extra staff. Expect a new weekday breakfast and late night oyster bar hours. He writes, "Let people know that we will be open all day and all night taking care of everyone the same way we have always tried. Jeffrey’s will come out of this stronger than ever, quicker than ever."
