A Peek Inside Ciano, Shea Gallante's New Flatiron Italian

[Femia, 10/19/10]

Here, now, one of Eater's 12 fall openings to watch, Ciano. The restaurant is the much anticipated return of Cru's former chef Shea Gallante, where he'll move from high-end wine conscious cooking to the rustic, seasonal Italian of his earlier years. Look forward to menu items like blue crab crostini with soppressata, Chatham cod with puttanesca fresca?, and ravioli stuffed with red wine braised veal breast, and a restaurant with a real wood burning fireplace on the expansive lower level and a second story wine room with windows facing the street.

Meanwhile, the wine program will be run by Cru alum John Slover, who put Bar Henry on the map with a forward thinking half bottle program. Expect a similar situation here with a heavier reliance on Italian wines. She opens to the public on November 5 (recently pushed back from October 29).
