Morning Fire at Joseph Leonard, Damage May be Significant

New, 9 comments

It's still unclear how badly the place has been damaged, but multiple tipsters write in to report that there was a fire at Village restaurant Joseph Leonard just an hour or so ago. One tipster writes that fire trucks ran all up and down the block this morning, another called the blaze "substantial," while another writes in, "The restaurant filled with smoke; the doors and windows were battered in and it looked not so good inside. It's going to be offline for a least a few weeks, I'd suspect." Another sends word of broken windows, firefighters on the roof, and a "very sad Gabe out front." We still await official word from the restaurant about the damage and hope that everyone is safe.

This fire is more significant but is not the first disaster to hit the restaurant. Last August it was hit by a car.
Update: A tipster sends in the above photo of the scene.
