HELL'S KITCHEN— Diner's Journal reports that David and Vanida Bank, the owners of Land Thai Kitchen on the Upper East and West Sides and Recipe, are opening Pure Thai Shophouse on 9th Avenue and 51st Street. [DJ]

RED HOOK—Eater National runs an interview with Matt Lewis and Renato Poliafito of Baked in Brooklyn. They've just released a new cookbook called "Baked Explorations" which is an homage to all American sweets, from the brownie to the jello salad and grasshopper pie. [Eater National]

ANNIVERSARIES— On the eve of Tao’s tenth anniversary, partner Paul Goldstein shares his thoughts on further expansion: "We’re looking to go global. What we’re not looking to do is let anyone else run our brand, which is why it’s taking so long. You have the restaurant groups that get hot and open five restaurants in two years – that’s not us.
