This Little Piggy Had Roast Beef, the new restaurant in the old Birdies space that the bloggers have been watching all week, is the newest addition to the East Village sandwich gauntlet. Today Grub Street reveals that the men behind the admittedly cute little shop are none other than Francis Garcia and Sal Basille of Artichoke, Led Zeppole, and a potential pizza spot/restaurant out in the MePa/Chelsea environs. Roast beef sandwiches either come on a roll, au jus, with Cheez Whiz, or on a hero loaf with onion, fresh mozz, and gravy. GS reports they also serve pastrami sandwiches, fries, and milkshakes. Knowing how Artichoke operates, it should only take about 30 minutes per sandwich.
