A couple of weeks ago, news broke that 30 year-old West Village restaurant Cafe Bruxelles will be replaced by a new French restaurant from a former La Goulue manager sometime this June. It's still unclear when the Belgian restaurant will close for good to make way for the renovations, but they are definitely closed right now. Signs in the window state that the restaurant is closed for the foreseeable future, and the owner tells Eater that the culprit was a recent basement fire. She didn't seem to know when they'll reopen, but whenever they do, there won't be much time before the Frenchies move in.
