GRAMERCY— According to a press preview invite, Susan Sarandon & Co. are opening a restaurant called Duck's Eatery in their new ping pong club SPiN. It will serve "spectator food." [EaerWire]
UPPER EAST SIDE— A tipster and veteran of Upper East Side swanksville restaurant and club Bruno Jamais reports the place closed after New Years. The seven year-old space, run by a Daniel alum, was known for its clubby atmosphere, upscale clientele, and okay to not so impressive food. The website is down and no one answers the line, but we await official confirmation.
WINE ISSUES— The Times wine man Eric Asimov gets on the blog today to talk pairings. First off, he doesn't really care about wine and food pairings. But more importantly, he thinks the gimmicky "overly serious analysis" done by wine superstar Gary Vaynerchuk (cereal), otherwise serious wine blog Dr. Vino (Halloween candy, seven layer dip), and Do Bianchi (Chex Mix) "is an unintentional mockery that is less funny than sad." [The Pour]
UPPER WEST SIDE— For those interested, here's another slideshow of the Tavern on the Green items up for auction. Meanwhile Glenn Collins reports that some of those items are still being disputed in court. [BI; NYT]
TOP CHEFFAGE— Some Top Chef takeaways from a panel discussion this weekend: Tom likes gin and tonics, the judging often takes five hours (more if it's the finale), the judges are all very proud of Harold, and they loved Kevin from the recent season. [GS]
