Not so Fast: West Village Institution Still One Year Out from Reopening

As reported earlier this morning, long shuttered Village landmark Chumley's is applying for a liquor license with Community Board 2 in two weeks. And a spot check confirms the place is swarming with workers this very moment.

But, sadly, it's not yet time to rejoice. A foreman on the scene told an Eater operative that while Chumley's will indeed be restored to its original state when it reopens, he doesn't think it will be ready, drum roll, for another year. A shot of the still raw interior reveals he might be right.
