After his brutal two week goose-egg streak, Dining Section editor-cum-dreamkiller Pete Wells files a starred review on The Standard Hotel's Standard Grill tomorrow in what may be his last chance to award stars before the reign of new critic Sam Sifton begins. The sprawling MePa hot spot (with its hot waitstaff) and the downmarket brasserie fare of chef Dan Silverman has been receiving fair to positive reviews since its opening in early summer, so perhaps it will dodge the Wells hammer. But one never knows. For background on the restaurant, see further coverage here. For everyone else, the vote is ahead. [Standard Grill, after 8PM; NYT]
