The cadre of Eater interns couldn't make it down to last night's Tribeca Committee meeting to hear the handful of downtown restaurateurs plead for liquor license approval. But a tipster did, and he has some big news to relay:
Morimoto has taken the former Dennis Foy on Church St. to do a mid-priced funky place catering to the late-night crowd. Should be a great hangout for foodies and chefs at 2-4 AM...He talked about how he missed Tribeca since he used to be at Nobu and really likes the 'hood. He's looking forward to doing something more low-key (more of a neighborhood place) than in the Meatpacking.
Community Board 1 had no objections, meaning the Iron Chef should fly through the process. Located at 313 Church, the former Dennis Foy/future Morimoto spot is right next to Macao Trading Co, meaning there is a potential new go-to Tribeca food block in the works.
