New, 7 comments

1) Williamsburg: A reader sends word that Green Canteen, the five month-old healthy Mediterranean style restaurant located at 106 North 6th St, has closed. The restaurant's website reads: "We thank each of our valued guests and regret to inform you that the restaurant in Williamsburg has closed due to business and economic reasons." This 3000-square foot spot was originally meant to be the first location in a larger scale chain from the owner, an ex-Olive Garden and Burger King exec. [ShutterWire]

2) Soho: Restaurant and performance space Corio, located at West Broadway and Grand Street, has closed, reportedly because the rent was too high to maintain. The shuttered space hosted This is Burlesque burlesque review and served a Mediterranean menu from former Sushi Samba chef Marion Maur. [ShutterWire]

3) Hell's Kitchen: NY Barfly reports that Whistlin' Dixie's Texas Tavern closed this weekend. The signage and texas-themed decor has already been taken down from the front entrance at the 714 11th Avenue dive bar. NY Barfly fondly remembers: "Dixie's was a shitshow, but they didn't pretend to be anything else. On one visit, the waitress refused to serve the nachos as she insisted 'I don't know what they put on them, but I do know that's not what meat is supposed to look like.' At least the staff was kind." 4) Upper West Side: Italian restaurant La Grolla at 413 Amsterdam Avenue and 77th has closed. [ShutterWire]
