Monday Opening Report: Cafe Pedlar, Bronx Ale House

1) Lower East Side: The Frankies Empire's second Cafe Pedlar opened this morning in Frankies 17 overflow room/pdr. As is the case at the Court Street location, Stumptown coffee is on offer, plus sandwiches, fresh pastries, and items from the regular Spuntino menu. Status: Certified Open; 17 Clinton St., 212-253-2303

2) Kingsbridge: Boogie Downer discovers a new beer mecca The Bronx Ale House has opened on 238th Street. He reports the beer, the food, the vibe is all worth the trip for those in the area. Status: Certified Open; 216 W 238th St; 718-601-0204.

3) Updates: Checking in on last week's opening reports leftovers, The Sweet Afton (owned by the people behind Wilfie & Nell) did indeed open over the weekend in Astoria, The Double Windsor at 210 Prospect Park West (from the Cake Shop team) still has a week to go, and Park Slope's Provini still isn't answering the phone.
