Fall Tracking: Happy Face Creates Midtown Bun Glut

Midtown: Midtown has quite a fall season coming up. Design firm and restaurant operator (Public, Double Crown) AvroKO just sent out some more info on its upcoming transformation of Midtown's Omido. Opening in October Happy Face (for real name) will be a casual spot focusing on Japanese noodles and eight variations of steamed buns served alongside handmade sodas and shochu. Intriguing! Exciting! Especially because just two avenues away, Tien Ho will be serving Momofuku's iconic buns along with his French-Vietnamese fare at their new Midtown location. And over in Midtown East, Michael Hunyh is opening his cheapo pan-Asian noodle spot, O Bao. There will be quite the embarrassment of Asian riches pouring down on Midtown soon.
