West Village: Two plywood updates from the fashionable Village this afternoon. Grub Street realizes that the upcoming Hotel Griffou—opening this month in the old Marylou's space on West 9th—is now open for previews for fashionable types like Rachael Roy and Chloë Sevigny. Meanwhile, Steve Lewis takes a tour of Sean MacPhearson and Eric Goode's new Jane Hotel and Ballroom, a spot that will open on Tuesday despite the problems they've had with Community Board 2. Run by Matt Kliegman and Carlos Quirarte, the spot will cater to the "post-hipster crowd," will host a movie night on Mondays, will be the kind of place where Lewis "would order a sidecar even though I’ve never tried one," and will open at 6 "cause it’s got those chops—and it will go late because the public will not want to go home, ever." What more could one ask for?
