Gentrification Confirmation

New, 2 comments

2009_06_koibowery.jpgEarlier in the day, it came out that international high end sushi chain Koi is eying a liquor license for 347 Bowery, currently the space of The Salvation Army's gritty and graffitied East Village home. A strange move, since The Salvation Army never announced a closure. Now Curbed reports that indeed the entire building is being sold, making way for a new ground-level tenant. Could there be any greater symbol for the overt transformation/gentrification of The Bowery? Do not answer that question. [Curbed]
