Curious Chain Cookout Grill Leaves as Quickly as it Came

It's now time to take a quick moment to pay respects to short-lived, highly confusing chain Cookout Grill. The big CG came on the scene just under a year ago, arriving almost simultaneously on West 14th St. and Sixth Ave. and on the upper reaches of First Ave. The mascot, above, was weird; the food, unappetizing. Six months later, the 14th Street outpost closed, and today we learn the First Ave. location has followed suit. Let's hope a more promising operator—paging Mr. David Chang—takes over the space.
