Resurrections: Lever House to Return as... Casa Lever?

New, 1 comment

Midtown East: According to The Cuozz, onetime go-to for Midtown power lunching Lever House will reopen months after its April shutter as... wait for it... Casa Lever. Casa Lever, "an Italian eatery that aims to combine fine dining by night with 'power' lunching by day...and hopes to bring in a Sirio Maccioni-style ringmaster to compete with the Four Seasons across the street." For the record, Lever House restaurateur John McDonald tells us this is the first he's heard of Casa Lever as well.

Whether adding pasta and a wily host will help Casa Lever succeed where Lever House failed is uncertain, but Cuozzo does have a point that Italian places seem to be popping up all over town these days. Just recently: Montenapo, Marea, Locanda Verde, Sora Lella, Harry's Italian. And coming up soon: the second A Voce, SD26, Danny Meyer's Wakiya remake. Mercy.
