Eater Inside: Ward III

[Matt Duckor]
Over a month ago, it came out that bartenders from The Odeon, Ella, and Macao Trading Co. were turning the now shuttered, former happy hour favorite QDT space at 111 Reade St. in Tribeca into a beauty of a bar/restaurant called Ward III. And since Thrillist and TONY reported today that the bar would be opening this week, an Eater operative swung by this afternoon to take a look around. Despite many of the expected features—long wooden bar, large antique looking mirrors, etc., the bar manages to separate itself from others with its high ceilings and spacious, yet simple interior.

They'll be serving "bespoke" cocktails catering to every palate (a la Milk and Honey) along with a list of standard house cocktails and beer. As for the food, think heavy, alcohol soaking items like wild mushroom lasagna, mac 'n' cheese, bacon wrapped dates, and deviled eggs. And, just for fun, they'll be serving brunch! Biscuits and Gravy and a "Moroccan Martini" anyone?

They'll be doing a friends and family trial run during the week, with a planned opening date of Friday. See the full menu here
